We believe young men and women need to be challenged. To strive, to fail, to persevere and to succeed based on effort and dedication.
The youth Brazilian Jiu Jitsu program at De la Costa Academy aims to create extra support for parents by teaching children and young adults discipline, self-control, improved self-esteem and the ability to focus better on tasks. To this end, our youth programs are designed not only to impart a solid understanding of technique and strategy but also to model respect, discipline and grit.
In our youth BJJ class, students are expected to focus, listen to instruction and perform to the best of their ability while at the same time having fun in a safe, structured program.
Those students who show an aptitude and willingness will have opportunities to compete with young athletes of similar levels from other academies, but competition is by no means a requirement for participation.
Classes are open to young men and women from 10 to 14 years of age, with exceptions made on a case-by-case basis.
